Hi-vis helps your crew be seen by drivers and plant operators. HTG Group supplies hi-vis shirts, polos, vests, jackets and rainwear, and we brand them in-house at our Unanderra workshop. You get the garments and the logo from one supplier.
We are an authorised supplier of Bisley Workwear, Portwest, DNC Workwear and JB's Wear, and each of them makes hi-vis.
Day or day/night
Hi-vis comes in two broad types.
Day-only hi-vis uses fluorescent fabric that stands out in daylight. It suits crews who only work in daylight hours.
Day/night hi-vis adds retroreflective tape. The tape sends light back towards headlights and site lighting, so the wearer stays visible after dark. If your crew starts early, finishes late, works near traffic or does night shifts, look at day/night garments.
Australian standards cover hi-vis for day and night use. Your employer or principal contractor may set the type you need, so check before you order. Tell us what the site asks for and we will show you garments that match.
Colours
Fluorescent yellow and fluorescent orange are the two common hi-vis colours. Many garments pair them with a darker panel, often navy, on the lower half or the sleeves. Some sites and employers specify a colour, so confirm it first. Once your crew has a colour, keep a note of it so reorders match.
Logo placement
Reflective tape has to stay visible to work. We keep logos on the fluorescent fabric and off the tape. Good spots include:
- Left chest, above the tape
- Upper back, above or between the tape bands
- Sleeves, where they are clear of tape
Keep the logo a modest size so most of the fluorescent fabric still shows. Embroidery suits chest logos on vests and shirts. DTF printing suits larger back prints and keeps the garment light. We send a proof showing size and position before we brand anything.
Summer and winter
For summer, lightweight hi-vis shirts and polos help crews stay cooler, and long sleeves add sun protection. For winter and wet weather, add hi-vis jackets, vests or rainwear. Whatever goes on top is what a driver sees. If someone pulls a plain jacket over a hi-vis shirt, the hi-vis underneath stops doing its job.
Fits for women and men
We supply women's and men's fits across most of our hi-vis ranges. A women's cut sits better through the shoulders, chest and hips, which makes a difference over a full shift. Ask each person to check the size chart for the exact garment.
Spares for new starters
Crews change through the year. Order a few spares in your most common sizes, branded and ready, so a new starter can be kitted out on day one. Keep a record of styles, colours and logo positions so every reorder matches the first batch.
Industries we supply
Hi-vis is part of daily work in construction and civil, mining and resources, transport and logistics and government and emergency services. For the rest of the kit, see workwear and PPE.
